The first meeting of the Florida Migrant Parent Advisory Council (FMPAC) for the 2022-2023 school year took place on December 2 and 3, 2022. Dr. Maria Pouncey welcomed members and called the meeting to order; 15 members and district

Updates from FDOE-MEP
Dr. Maria Pouncey FMPAC Director Dr. Maria Pouncey shared updates on behalf of State Director of FMEP, Henry Miller. Update included introduction of Alyssa Tovar, Federal Specialist, FMEP. Mr. Miller also shared news regarding the transition of the ID&R pro-gram from ESCORT to PAEC. |
MSIX
Juanita Torres Suwannee County Juanita Torres, Suwannee County, shared with par-ents information on MSIX program. She shared with parents how MSIX is utilized to help facilitate school enrollment for migrant children. |
Families in Transition
Dr. Maria Pouncey FMPAC Director Dr. Maria Pouncey, FMPAC Director, provided a presentation on behalf of Fabiola Garcia. Parents were informed of the McKinney-Vento Act. Dr. Pouncey also shared the eligibility determinations and provided different scenarios on which a family could be eligible. |
Rezilient Kidz– Session 7
Isabell Campbell & Matilde Angeles Collier County Isabell Campbell and Matilde Angeles, Collier County facilitated session 7 of the RHCK program. In this session parents learned of the five assets for commitment to learning, which include Homework, Achievement Motivation, Bonding to School, Reading for Pleasure, and School Engagement. |
Rezilient Kidz– Session 8
Rosalba Francisco Orange County Rosalba Francisco, Orange County and Susana Santana, Pasco County facilitated session 8 of the RHCK program. In this session parents learned of the six assets for positive values, which include Caring, Access and Social Justice, Integrity, Honesty, Responsibility and Restraint. |
Rezilient Kids Program Update
Nanette Rodriguez Palm Beach Nanette Rodriguez, Palm Beach District Representative, shared with parents tips and ideas on how Palm Beach County has implemented the program with parents in their local MPAC meetings. |
