FMPAC Conference

Orlando, FL

The fourth and last meeting for the school year 2011-2012 was held on May 18th and 19th in Orlando, FL at the Rosen Centre. There were 17 members present. Katie Amoral from Volusia County and Alejandrina Sillivan from Putnam were guests during this meeting. Members of the executive board made presentations on what they have learned during their four year term. Natalia Cruz, FMPAC president, presented on what she learned at the National Migrant Conference in Portland, Oregon. This was the last meeting for members of the executive board because their term has ended. These members will be serving as mentors to the newcomers. Irma Aguilar presented Ms. Gagliano with an award thanking her for her availability and support to the Florida Migrant Parent Advisory Council (FMPAC). Mrs. Aguilar also thanked Maria Pouncey, FMPAC Coordinator, for the support and outstanding work she had done with the FMPAC. Nominations and voting took place during this time and the new executive board will be seated during the first meeting of the up coming school year 2012-2013. The new executive board for the year 2012-2015 is as follows: President, Elizabeth Galvan from Volusia County. Vice-President, Luz Olguin from Gadsden County. Secretary, Ofelia Rodriguez from Gadsden/Collier County. Alternate Secretary, Juanita Zamora from Lee County.
