The second meeting for this school year was held on December 9th and 10th in Orlando, FL at the Rosen Centre. There were 14 members present along with the Director of Florida Migrant Education Program Ms. Carol Gagliano, FMPAC Liaison from the FLDOE MEP and Oscar Olguín, Collier County Migrant Coordinator. Two new additions were made to the FMPAC, Mrs. Luz Olguín representing PAEC and Mrs. Juana Zamora representing Lee Co. Mr. Pedro Hernandez Outreach Representative from the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) from the Florida Department of Education spoke to the parents about scholarships. Mrs. Pouncey spoke to the parents about MSIX. She explained to the parents that MSIX is the technology that allows states to share educational information on migrant children who travel from state to state. Mrs. Pouncey also did a presentation titled, Preparing for a Successful Meeting. The parents were given a folding crate with all the material needed to conduct their own meetings. The minutes from the meeting on September 16th - 17th in Orlando, were reviewed and approved. The third FMPAC meeting is scheduled for March 9th and 10th in Orlando, FL at the Rosen Center.
